Pilgrimage for Vale Foodbank 2026

We are really excited to announce that the Vale Foodbank Pilgrimage is back for 2026. This 5 mile gentle paced walk around the old churches, chapels and places of interest in Barry is intended to be a fun day out for all involved. As well as an opportunity to raise vital funds for the work foodbank does.

It will start and finish at Coastlands Church, Colcot Barry, where there are loos and refreshments and on-street parking.

The idea is based on a very ancient tradition. In the medieval period, people would walk between holy places in search of spirituality, and as they did so, they would leave “alms for the poor” or donations for those in need. All these centuries later, and this tradition of giving is something we still need as much as ever.

To make it really interesting, we have several guest experts and historians signed up to give you all the history and colourful folklore attached to the places we visit. They have all given up their time free of charge. We are eternally grateful.

Tickets are £20 and all of that money goes to buy food parcels for people in crisis in the Vale of Glamorgan. They are available from Eventbrite on this link:
